वायु-चिकित्सा(Air therapy )
शारीरिक और मानसिक सुख तथा शान्ति के लिये शुद्ध वायु का सेवन अत्यन्त आवश्यक है। प्रदूषित वातावरण से अनेक रोग पैदा होते हैं। अथर्ववेद में वायु से भी सुख, शान्ति और नीरोगता की प्राप्ति के लिये अनेकशः प्रार्थनाएँ की गई हैं। कुछ उदाहरण द्रष्टव्य हैं 'अन्तरिक्ष में वर्तमान वायु तुझे शान्ति और आयु प्रदान करे(शं ते वातो अन्तरिक्षे वयो धात्। अ. २.१०.३) । 'वायु मुझे प्राण प्रदान करे(वायुः प्राणान् दधातु मे । अ. १९.४३.२)। निम्न मन्त्रों में सूर्य और वायु दोनों से धन, पुष्टि और आरोग्यता के लिये प्रार्थना की गई है। 'सूर्य और वायु मुझे धन और पुष्टि प्रदान करें। वे उत्तम बल और सुख को मेरे शरीर में भर दें। इस शरीर में नीरोगता स्थापित करें और रोग से मुक्त कर दें(रयिं मे पोषं सवितोत वायुस् तनू दक्षम् आ सुवतां सुशेवम् । अयक्ष्मतातिं मह इह धतं तौ नो मुञ्चतम् अंहसः ।। अ. ४.२५.५) । निम्न मन्त्र में वायु से प्रार्थना की गई है कि वह इस ओर रोगनिवारक औषध बनकर आए और रोगों को परे उड़ा ले जाए -
आ वात वाहि भेषजं वि वात वाहि यद् रपः । त्वं हि विश्वभेषज देवानां दूत ईयसे ।। अ. ४.१३.३ ऋ. १०.१३७.३
(इस ओर, हे वायो !, बह तू, रोगनिवारक औषध बनकर, परे, हे वायो!, बहा ले जा तू, जो रोग है। तू निश्चय से है, सब रोगों का औषध,देवों का दूत (बनकर), बह रहा है तू ॥)
Air therapy
Consumption of pure air is very important for physical and mental happiness and peace. Many diseases arise due to polluted environment. In Atharvaveda, many prayers have been made for attaining happiness, peace and health even from air. Some examples are 'May the air present in the space grant you peace and life (shan te vato antarise vayo dhaat. A. 2.10.3). 'May the air provide me with life (vayuh pranan dadhatu me. A. 19.43.2). In the following mantras, prayers have been made to both Sun and Air for wealth, prosperity and health. 'May the sun and air provide me with wealth and affirmation. May they fill my body with great strength and happiness. Establish soundness in this body and free it from diseases (rayim me poshan savitot vayus tanu daksham aa suvatam sushevam. ayakshmatamin mah ih dhatan tau no munchtam anhasah. A. 4.25.5). In the following mantra, a prayer has been made to Vayu that it should come this way as a cure-all medicine and take the diseases away -
Aa Vaat Vaahi Bheshajan Vi Vaat Vaahi Yadrapah. He himself is the messenger of the divine gods of the world. a. 4.13.3 Rs. 10.137.3
(On this side, O Vayo!, flow, you become the medicine that cures diseases, on the other side, O Vayo!, take away the disease. You are definitely the medicine for all diseases, flowing (as the messenger of the Gods) you ॥)
