गण्डमाला चिकित्सा
गण्डमाला रोग को कण्ठमाला भी कहा जाता है। इस रोग में गले में गिल्टियाँ बन जाती हैं। यदि इनका समय पर उपचार न किया जाए तो ये क्षयरोग का रूप धारण कर लेती हैं। ये पाँच, सात अथवा नौ अर्थात् थोड़ी संख्या में और कभी पचास, सत्तर और नव्वें अर्थात् बहुत अधिक संख्या में भी होती हैं। ये ज्ञानी वैद्य के सामने इस प्रकार उड़ जाती हैं, जिस प्रकार ज्ञानियों के सामने मूर्खों के वचन उड़ जाते है( अ. ६.२५.१-३)। इन गिल्टियों को अपचित् भी कहा जाता है। एक मन्त्र में कहा गया है - हे अपचितों तुम इस रोगी के गले से इस प्रकार निकलकर दौड़ जाओ, जिस प्रकार गरुड़ अपने घौंसले से निकलकर उड़ जाता है। सूर्य तुम्हारा भेषज है और चन्द्रमा तुम्हें दूर भगाता है(अपचितः प्र पतत सुपर्णो वसतेरिव । सूर्यः कृणोतु भेष चन्द्रमा वोऽपोच्छतु । अ. ६.८३.१) । ये गिल्टियाँ लालीयुक्त श्वेत वर्ण वाली, अत्यन्त श्वेत वर्ण वाली एवं काले और लाल वर्ण वाली होती हैं(एन्येका श्येन्येका कृष्णैका रोहिणी द्वे । सर्वासाम् अग्रभं नामावीरघ्नीर् अपेतन।। अ. ६.८३.२) । रक्तवर्ण गण्डमालाएँ कृष्णवर्ण गण्डमाला के पश्चात् उत्पन्न होती हैं। दिव्यमुनि (वेणुदाभूष अथवा अगस्त्य) वृक्ष की जड़ से इन सब को नष्ट किया जा सकता है। ये गण्डमालाएँ अत्यधिक कष्ट देने वाली, अधिक कष्ट देने वाली और कम कष्ट देने वाली होने से तीन प्रकार की हैं। इन तीनों को ही विधिपूर्वक दिव्यमुनि वृक्ष की जड़ का प्रयोग करने से दूर किया जा सकता है(अ. ७.७८ (७४).१-२) ।

Goiter disease is also called mumps. In this disease lumps are formed in the throat. If they are not treated on time, they take the form of tuberculosis. These are five, seven or nine i.e. small numbers and sometimes fifty, seventy and ninth i.e. very large numbers. These fly away in front of a knowledgeable physician, just as the words of fools fly away in front of wise people (A. 6.25.1-3). These cysts are also called indigestion. It is said in a mantra - O you who are intoxicated, escape from the neck of this patient and run away, just as an eagle flies away from its nest. The sun is your disguise and the moon drives you away (apacitah pra patat suparno vaseteriva. suryaḥ kṛnotu bhesh chandra voepochhatu. A. 6.83.1). These glands are of reddish white complexion, extremely white complexion and black and red complexion (Anyeka Shyenyeka Krishnaika Rohini Dve. Sarvasam Agrabham Namaveeraghnir Apetan.. A. 6.83.2). Red goiters arise after black goiters. All these can be destroyed by the root of Divyamuni (Venudabhush or Agastya) tree. These goiters are of three types: extremely painful, more painful and less painful. All these three can be removed by methodically using the root of the Divyamuni tree (A.7.78 (74).1-2).
श्वेतकुष्ठ चिकित्सा
(Leprosy treatment)
कुष्ठ चार प्रकार का बताया गया है-
(क) हड्डियों में उत्पन्न होने वाला,
(ख) शरीर के अन्दर मांस आदि में उत्पन्न होने वाला,
(ग) त्वचा पर उत्पन्न होने वाला, और
(घ) जो प्रकृति, स्वास्थ्य आदि के नियमों का उल्लंघन करने और व्यभिचार आदि दोषों का आश्रय लेने से उत्पन्न होता है।
अथर्वा ऋषि के आयुर्वेद का ज्ञाता वैद्य इन सभी प्रकार के कुष्टों को नष्ट करने में समर्थ होता है(अस्थिजस्य किलासस्य तनूजस्य च यत् त्वचि । दूष्या कृतस्य ब्रह्मणा लक्ष्म श्वेतम् अनीनशम् ।। अ. १.२३.४) । एक मन्त्र में रजनी नामक औषधि से प्रार्थना की गई है। कुष्ठरोगी को राहत देने वाली, हे काले रंग वाली ओषधि तू काली अंधेरी रात्रि में उत्पन्न हुई है। हे रंगने वाली होने के कारण रजनी नाम से पुकारी जाने वाली! तू कुष्ठ से युक्त इस अंग को रंग दे और सफेद दाग को भी रंग दे। इन्हें अपने स्वाभाविक वर्ण का बना दे(नक्तास्योषधे रामे कृष्णे असिक्नि च इदं रजनि रजय किलासं पलितं च यत् ।। अ. १.२३.१ )। यह काले वर्ण वाली ,ओषधि काले वर्ग वाली मिट्टी के स्थान में उत्पन्न होती है, वहीं बढ़ती है और वहीं शीर्ण होकर नष्ट हो जाती है। इसी लिये यह चितकबरे दाग को नष्ट करने में समर्थ होती है(असितं ते प्रलयनम् आस्थानम् असितं तव । असिवन्यस्योषधे निर् इतो नाशया पृषत् ।। अ. १.२३ ३) ।रजनी नाम वाली यह औषधि कुष्ठ रोग को नष्ट कर देती है और उससे उत्पन्न होने वाले श्वेत और चितकबरे धब्बों को अपने वर्ण का बना देती है(किलासं च पलितं च निर् इतो नाशया पृषत् । आ त्वा स्वो विशतां वर्णः परा शुक्लानि पातय ।। अ. १.२३.२) ।
एक सूक्त में कहा गया है - सुन्दर पंखों वाला गरुड़ अर्थात् शोभन रश्मियों वाला सूर्य सबसे पहले उत्पन्न हुआ उस सूर्य का पित्त (ऊष्मा) ही ओषधि के रूप में प्रकट हुआ। हे प्राणदायिनी औषधे सूर्य की ऊष्मा से उत्पन्न, युद्ध करके कुष्ठरोग को जीत लेने वाली ने तूने, सूर्य की ऊष्मा से ही उत्पन्न वृक्षों, पेड़-पौधों को अपना रूप बना लिया, अर्थात् तू ओषधियों और पेड़-पौधों के रूप वाली हो गई। (१) प्राणदायिनी आसुरी अथवा श्यामा नामक औषधि से कुष्ठरोग को नष्ट कर डालने वाला औषध बनता है, जो रोग को नष्ट करके त्वचा को सामान्य रूप वाला बना देता है। (२) हे ओषधे तेरी माता पृथिवी भी एक रूप वाली है और तेरा पिता द्यौ भी एक रूप वाला है। तू भी कुष्ठरोग से श्वेत, कृष्ण आदि वर्णों वाले बने शरीर को सामान्य वर्ण वाला बना देने वाली है। हे ओषधे ! तू इस कुष्ठरोगी के विविध वर्णों वाले शरीर को समान वर्ण वाला बना दे। (३) हे ओषधे सामान्य रूप बना देने वाली को तुझको धरती से उखाड़कर औषधरूप में परिणत किया गया है। तू इस भद्दे रंग वाले शरीर को ठीक कर दे, और फिर से इसके पहले वाले सुन्दर रूपों को बना दे। (४) ।(अ. १.२४)
Leprosy treatment
Four types of leprosy have been described -
(a) arising in bones,
(b) Originating in flesh etc. inside the body,
(c) occurring on the skin, and
(d) Which arises from violating the laws of nature, health etc. and taking recourse to vices like adultery etc.
A physician knowledgeable in the Ayurveda of Atharva Rishi is able to destroy all these types of leprosy (Aasthijasya Kilasya Tanujasya Cha Yat Tvachi. Dushya Kritasya Brahmana Laksham Shwetam Aneensham. A. 1.23.4). In one mantra, a medicine called Rajni has been prayed for. O black colored medicine that gives relief to the leprosy patient, you were born in the dark dark night. O one who is called Rajni because she is a dyer! You color this part affected with leprosy and also color the white spot. Make them of your natural color (naktasyosadhe rame krishne asikni ca idam rajni rajya kilasam palitam ca yat. A. 1.23.1). This black colored medicine originates in a place with black colored soil, grows there and decays and gets destroyed there. That is why it is capable of destroying the spotted spots (asitam te pralayanam aasthanam asitam tav. asivanyasyoshadhe nir ito nashaya prushat. A. 1.23 3).
This medicine named Rajni destroys leprosy and changes the white and spotted spots arising from it to one's own color (Kilasam cha palitam cha nir ito nashaya prashat. Aa twa svo vishtaam varnah para shuklaani patay. A. 1.23.2).
It is said in a Sukta - Garuda with beautiful wings i.e. the Sun with beautiful rays was born first and the bile (heat) of that Sun appeared in the form of medicine. O life-giving medicines, which were born from the heat of the Sun, and who fought and defeated leprosy, you took the form of trees and plants, which were born from the heat of the Sun, that is, you became the form of medicines and trees and plants. (1) A medicine that destroys leprosy is made from a medicine called Pranadayini Asuri or Shyama, which destroys the disease and makes the skin normal. (2) O Oshadha, your mother Earth is also of one form and your father Dayu is also of one form. You are also going to change the body which has become white, black etc. due to leprosy to normal complexion. Hey medicine man! You make the body of this leper having different complexions of uniform complexion. (3) O Oshadha, the one who transforms you into normal form has been uprooted from the earth and converted into the form of a medicine. You correct this ugly colored body and restore its former beautiful features. (4) .(A. 1.24)
